This drawing hits home: the shock to see others laying naked before you,
as they themselves pause naked above.
Soon, they too will blend between, naked and anonymous.

Yesterday, while watching a WW2 history documentary, I was shocked to see another view of the
Khmelnytskyi Хмельницький Ukraine mass grave.

I have seen the large hell pit from North south east and west, but this is a new perspective.
Cannot imagine the shock of those innocent souls discovering this ghastly sight!
Yet forced to enter and lay down?!?!?!
Ugh!!

I am sure the above actually happened in Eastern Europe 1941, 42.
Crazy to envision the climb down into the pit to retrieve the watch, gold tooth, earring, ETC.

Could have happened in summer - if she was very lucky - but only at night right after the shooting was over. In daytime she would have been shot by those who guarded the mass grave to make sure no one escapes (in case shooters missed).

For such escape to happen, shooters had to be very sloppy (Mosin or Mauser bullet is almost always lethal when fired point blank - it reliably kills a bear at 100 yards), be one of the last to be shot (no bodies on top of her) and covered with really thin layer of earth... and the weather had to be real warm. Could something like that have happened? Yes. Did it really happen? I don't know - all survivor claims known to me are fakes.
