Стандартная ошибка - вбивают (причём слишком тонкие) гвозди в ладони. На самом деле, вбивают в запястья - ладони просто не выдержат вес тела.

Логическая ишибка всех "историков" - делать выводы исходя из кажущейся им практической целесообразности происходивших вещей.
Так вот, в ладони забивали не для того чтобы вес тела выдержать, а чтобы было.

I had the same doubt before. The bones of human's fingers are separated from each other and there is no connection. How could that support the weight of the body?
